My Trusty Cat a Spa victor

My Trusty Cat, 14-1, got up at the wire to win the Miss Honorable by an advancing nose under jockey Pat Day, beating out the tiring Ebony Breeze in the final stride. Smok'n Frolic was third, 2 3/4 lengths back.

Favored Savorthetime finished seventh without ever being in serious contention.

My Trusty Cat paid $30.20 to win, running the six furlongs in 1:10.37.

The win was the first at Saratoga for trainer David Vance, who is based in the Midwest.

The Honorable Miss is frequently used as a prep for the Grade 1, $250,000 Ballerina Stakes, a seven-furlong race for fillies and mares 3 years old and up on Aug. 29. Vance said that he brought the 4-year-old My Trusty Cat to Saratoga with the Ballerina in mind.
