My Sweet Addiction has two options for next start

CYPRESS, Calif. – My Sweet Addiction, the upset winner of the Grade 1 Vanity Stakes at Santa Anita on May 9, worked five furlongs in 1:00 at Los Alamitos on Friday for an expected start next Saturday.
My Sweet Addiction’s next race has not been determined, trainer Marty Jones said. The options are the $100,000 Adoration Stakes at 1 1/16 miles at Santa Anita or the $200,000 Fleur de Lis Stakes at 1 1/8 miles at Churchill Downs.
“We’re deciding between the two,” Jones said.
Jones said the Fleur de Lis has appeal because of potentially easier competition. The Adoration Stakes is expected to include the two-time champion Beholder, who missed the Vanity Stakes because of illness. Beholder won her only start this year, the restricted Santa Lucia Stakes at Santa Anita in April.
“I would rather take her on for more than $100,000 in a Grade 3,” Jones said of Beholder.
My Sweet Addiction worked alone on Friday. She went the opening quarter-mile in 24.20 seconds and galloped out six furlongs in 1:13.60, according to Jones. He timed My Sweet Addiction in 1:00.60 for five furlongs.
Owned by breeder Pamela Ziebarth, My Sweet Addiction won the most prestigious race of her career in the four-runner Vanity at 1 1/8 miles. By Tiznow, the 5-year-old My Sweet Addiction has won 4 of 10 starts and earned $328,106.
The Adoration might include Warren’s Veneda, who was third in the Vanity as a heavy favorite. Earlier this year, Warren’s Veneda won three consecutive stakes at Santa Anita, including the Grade 1 Santa Margarita Invitational in March. Trainer Craig Lewis said on Thursday that he is leaning toward a start in the Adoration for the 5-year-old Warren’s Veneda, pending a workout at Santa Anita this weekend.
Shoemaker Mile probables
Midnight Storm, the winner of the Grade 2 Del Mar Derby last September, and Bal a Bali, who won the Grade 3 American Stakes in his U.S. debut May 9, are two leading contenders for next Saturday’s $400,000 Shoemaker Mile on turf.
The Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile is part of the Breeders’ Cup Win and You’re In program, offering a fees-paid berth for the winner to the BC Mile at Keeneland on Oct. 31, provided the horse is nominated to the Breeders’ Cup program.
