By My Standards could run in Clark

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Trainer Bret Calhoun said plans for By My Standards’s immediate future should be decided by week’s end, with a possible run in the Nov. 27 Clark at Churchill not having been ruled out for the 4-year-old colt.
“We’re going to give him a full evaluation and hopefully come to a decision fairly soon,” Calhoun said.
By My Standards, a winner of three graded stakes for older horses this year, was never a serious factor Saturday when finishing eighth at 16-1 in the BC Classic at Keeneland.
“I couldn’t imagine him not running any better than that, so it was pretty disappointing,” Calhoun said. “Regardless of what he does the next couple of months, we do plan to race him as a 5-year-old.”

Calhoun said Silver Dust and Mr. Money, the respective 10th- and 11th-place finishers at long odds in the BC Dirt Mile, both will have time off before also racing next year.
Meanwhile, Mr. Big News is about halfway through a planned 60-day break and will rejoin Calhoun at Fair Grounds in New Orleans ahead of a 4-year-old campaign in 2021. The Giant’s Causeway colt was third at 46-1 behind Authentic in the Sept. 5 Kentucky Derby before finishing a distant seventh behind Swiss Skydiver and Authentic in the Preakness.
