By My Standards completes major preparation for Clark

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – By My Standards had his final pre-race work toward the Grade 1 Clark when breezing a half-mile in 49.40 seconds before dawn Friday at Churchill Downs.
By My Standards, a winner of three Grade 2 stakes earlier this year, can be expected to vie for favoritism with New York shipper Code of Honor next Friday, Nov. 27, in the $500,000 Clark. They’re expected to be part of a sizable field of 3-year-olds and up in the 1 1/8-mile race that highlights the final week of the Churchill fall meet.

Other confirmed starters for the Clark include Bodexpress, Coastal Defense, In Love, Mr Freeze, Owendale, Plus Que Parfait, and probably a few more. Entries will be drawn Sunday.
Trained by Bret Calhoun, By My Standards finished eighth in his most recent start, the Nov. 7 Breeders’ Cup Classic at Keeneland.
Calhoun also breezed Mr. Money early Friday. Mr. Money is nominated to the Clark, but Calhoun said he will enter only By My Standards.
The Clark will be bookended by the Grade 2 Falls City on Thursday and the Kentucky Jockey Club and Golden Rod, twin stakes for 2-year-olds, on Saturday. There is no stakes on Sunday, Nov. 29, when the 24-day meet ends. Turfway Park starts four months of winter racing on Dec. 2.
