My Sister Madi leads parade of longshots in Mamie Eisenhower Stakes

My Sister Madi upset the $50,000 Mamie Eisenhower Stakes on Friday night at Prairie Meadows, cruising home a 1 ¾-length winner at 8-1 over 27-1 shot Zella Rose.
Odds-on favorite Dreamin stumbled badly one stride into the Mamie Eisenhower, a six-furlong sprint for Iowa-bred fillies and mares, and crossed the finish last. Raegen Harper went wrong past the three-furlong pole, was quickly pulled up, and was vanned off the course. Tokyo Princess, the 4-1 second choice, ran one-paced through the stretch and finished fourth, while pace-setting Theperfectvow held third. Native Princess and Runfastandloud were scratched.
My Sister Madi, ridden by Alex Birzer, stalked the pace, made her bid past the quarter pole, and came home willingly to win going away. Zella Rose was last by several lengths much of the trip but ran late to be a clear second.
My Sister Madi was timed in 1:10.74 over a fast track and paid $18.80 to win.
Doug Anderson trains My Sister Madi for owners Warren Bush and Ron Eich, who also bred the 4-year-old filly. My Sister Madi, who won her first stakes race, is by Haynesfield and out of the Alphabet Soup mare Abc Me Win.
