My Silencer aims to stay perfect in Kingarvie

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – My Silencer made quite a splash on debut when taking the Frost King Stakes, and the promising gelding will negotiate 1 1/16 miles in Saturday’s $100,000 Kingarvie Stakes at Woodbine.
My Silencer was dismissed at 16-1 in the Oct. 31 Frost King, a seven-furlong test for Ontario-sired 2-year-olds. He pressed the pace before drawing clear for a 3 1/2-length score in 1:23.89.
Trainer Bill Tharrenos said owner Heste Sport was instrumental in the decision to debut My Silencer in the Frost King.
“The horse showed lots of talent in his workouts,” Tharrenos said. “To win going seven-eighths on the short work schedule that he had, I was very impressed. It surprised me that he got it done. There were some high-quality 2-year-olds in the race, but none of them showed up. My horse wasn’t challenged at all. From the quarter pole home, he was on his own, and ran away on them.”
My Silencer ran down another worker in his eye-catching five-furlong breeze in 59.20 here last Saturday.
“Now, the real test is going to come,” Tharrenos said. “Can he get the two turns? He’s worked very impressively. I don’t think he’ll be on the lead. One thing I’ve taught him is to take him back, relax, and run at them. He came out of the last work good. He’s not showing any stress at all.”
A field of six was drawn for the Kingarvie, which goes as the eighth on an 11-race card.
