My Miss Aurelia nearing comeback

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Three-time Grade 1 winner My Miss Aurelia might finally be ready to launch her much-anticipated comeback after breezing four furlongs in 48.34 seconds Thursday at Saratoga. My Miss Aurelia breezed in company with stablemate Got Lucky over a fast but drying-out racetrack shortly after the renovation break.
My Miss Aurelia, a homebred daughter of Smart Strike owned by Stonestreet Stables and George Bolton, has not started since finishing third in the Grade 3 Azeri at Oaklawn Park in March 2013. She had captured six of her previous eight starts, all with trainer Steve Asmussen, including the 2011 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. She also finished second behind Royal Delta in the 2012 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic.
My Miss Aurelia, the 2011 juvenile filly champion, is currently with trainer Todd Pletcher.
“We had her in an overnight stakes last fall, and she shed a frog, and it took forever to get her healed up,” said Pletcher. “She had to go back to the farm, but she’s doing well right now, and I was pleased with her work this morning.”
Pletcher said My Miss Aurelia could return in the $100,000 Shine Again Stakes at Saratoga on July 21.
“I’ve nominated her to the Shine Again, and it’s a possibility that she’ll start back in there,” said Pletcher.
