ETOBICOKE, Ontario - My Boy Price stamped himself as the undisputed early favorite for the $1 million King’s Plate with a 6 3/4-length score under Sahin Civaci in Sunday’s $114,200 King Corrie Stakes at Woodbine.
My Boy Prince ($2.30) tracked pacesetter Maximus Magic through slow fractions in the seven-furlong sprint before assuming command on the turn and then drew off to prevail in a time of 1:23.04. Roi Soleil finished second and was followed by Midnight Mascot, Maximus Magic and Break the Spell.
Trainer Mark Casse told Daily Racing Form via text after the race that My Boy Prince will probably bypass the June 9 Queenston Stakes with My Boy Prince in favor of a two-turn engagement in the Grade 3 Marine here June 29. That 1 1/16-mile stakes comes three weeks before the 1 1/8-mile Plate Trial Stakes, which is a major prep for the Aug. 17 Plate.

Civaci, who rode My Boy Prince in all three of his juvenile victories at Woodbine, said the reigning Canadian champion male 2-year-old is an easy horse to ride.
“He’s very versatile,” Civaci said. “He can sit off the pace. He can be in the front. We had an easy pace up front and when it was time to kick, he sure does kick on. It’s great being back on him. I was looking forward to it. I worked him a couple of times in the morning. I was very pleased with him.”
My Boy Prince earned $72,000 for Gary Barber, who purchased the son of Cairo Prince as the $115,000 sale topper at the CTHS 2022 Canadian Premier Yearling Sale.
