Muy Rapido will attempt to win her second straight stakes while cutting back in distance Sunday for the $85,000 La Senora at Sunland Park. The six-furlong race is for 3-year-old fillies bred in New Mexico. The La Senora drew a field of eight. Other leading contenders include Humarumba, who has won her last three starts; Baby Vamp, who has placed in two stakes; and Tea Light, who makes her stakes debut after winning her first two races by clear margins. KEY CONTENDERS Muy Rapido (Last 3 Beyers: 56-58-57) ◗ She is returning to racing around one turn for the first time since the fall and has had good success sprinting. Muy Rapido won her maiden and a first-level allowance at one turn by a combined 11 1/2 lengths. Both races came against New Mexico-breds, the first at Ruidoso Downs and the latter at Zia Park. Last month, she won the one-mile, $85,000 Enchantress for statebreds for her first stakes win. ◗ Muy Rapido, who will break from post 8 under Enrique Gomez, could get a tracking trip behind a couple of fillies to her inside, including Humarumba. ◗ Johnnie Nall trains Muy Rapido for J. Kirk and Judy Robison. Humarumba (Last 3 Beyers: 56-50-44) ◗ She has been on a tear, winning three straight races in a streak that began in July. During her run, she has won a maiden special weight at Arapahoe Park and an allowance and a stakes at the Downs at Albuquerque. ◗ Humarumba has used front-running tactics during her streak and figures to again be prominent from post 2. Tea Light (Beyers: 66-29) ◗ She’s shown talent in both of her races, winning them by a combined 10 lengths. ◗ The Beyer Speed Figure of 66 that Tea Light earned for an allowance win at Sunland on Dec. 22 is the best career number in the La Senora.
