Music Note delivers half-brother to Mystic Guide

The international Godolphin operation enjoyed an outstanding day with multiple stakes winners on Saturday, highlighted by homebred Mystic Guide's dominant victory in the Group 1, $12 million Dubai World Cup. In a fitting note, Godolphin welcomed a new arrival earlier in the day, as that runner's dam, multiple Grade 1 winner Music Note, delivered a Medaglia d'Oro colt in Kentucky, just hours before her son's smashing performance.
Music Note, an A. P. Indy half-sister to French classic winner Musical Chimes, won 7 of 12 career starts in the Godolphin blue while earning more than $1.6 million. As a 3-year-old, the filly broke out with an outstanding summer and fall in New York, posting Grade 1 victories in the Mother Goose, Coaching Club American Oaks, and Gazelle, and finishing second in the historic Alabama, beaten a head by Kentucky Oaks winner Proud Spell. She concluded the season by finishing third in the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic behind the great Zenyatta.
As a 4-year-old in 2009, Music Note added two more Grade 1 wins in New York in the Ballerina sprinting and the Beldame routing. She again traveled to California to finish third in the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic.
Music Note has produced four winners from five starters to date, with Mystic Guide her first stakes horse. The son of Ghostzapper was third in the Grade 3 Peter Pan, won the Grade 2 Jim Dandy, and finished a close second in the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup last year. He opened this season with a victory in the Grade 3 Razorback Handicap at Oaklawn which stamped him as the favorite for the World Cup.
Music Note is the dam of Gershwin, a 3-year-old Distorted Humor colt who broke his maiden in February at Fair Grounds. Following him on the track will be Gina, the mare's juvenile Maclean's Music filly.
