Munnyfor Ro should enjoy move back to turf in Wonder Where

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Woodbine Oaks winner Munnyfor Ro will take her talents back to turf Saturday in the final leg of the Canadian Triple Tiara, the $250,000 Wonder Where Stakes going 1 1/4 miles.
Munnyfor Ro overcame a four-wide trip to land the nine-furlong Woodbine Oaks in her second start for trainer Kevin Attard on Aug. 1. She took on the boys Aug. 22 in the 1 1/4-mile Queen’s Plate, finishing a respectable fourth while beaten just 1 3/4 lengths by victorious Safe Conduct.
“We gave her a try in the Queen’s Plate, and after that, the Wonder Where was always the next race that we were going to target, with her turf form,” Attard said. “She came out of the Plate in good shape. I think she’s put on some weight, maybe matured physically. She’s doing really well.”
Munnyfor Ro won her maiden on the grass at Keeneland before ending up third in a 1 1/16-mile allowance on the Churchill turf in the spring, when the daughter of Munnings was trained by Brian Lynch.
“I’m excited to see her back on the grass,” Attard said. “It looks like we’re getting good weather, so the footing should be firm. I don’t think the distance will be an issue for her.”
Justin Stein will ride Munnyfor Ro again for Raroma Stable.

The Wonder Where attracted eight other Canadian-bred 3-year-old fillies, including Il Malocchio who won the second Tiara race on Aug. 28, the Bison City Stakes.
Il Malocchio ran spotty before ending up third in the Woodbine Oaks, in which Emmeline nosed her out of second. She had a fast pace to chase in the 1 1/16-mile Bison City, scoring by a half-length over Emmeline after mounting a wide bid.
Il Malocchio breezed a solo five-eighths in an eye-catching 1:00.20 last Saturday on the Tapeta for trainer Marty Drexler, who has no qualms with stretching her out.
“She really wants to go far,” said Drexler, who sent her out to win last year’s Victorian Queen Stakes over 7 1/2 furlongs here on the inner turf.
Emmeline, Woodbine’s most accomplished maiden, drew the outside post under Emma-Jayne Wilson. Emmeline has been second in four consecutive races. Prior to the Oaks, she filled out the exacta in back-to-back maiden special weight events.
Miss Marie benefited from an outside-biased Tapeta surface when she nailed Emmeline on the wire to earn her diploma going 1 1/16 miles with an 81 Beyer Speed Figure on July 10. She went on to finish out of the money in both the Woodbine Oaks and Bison City, and is going on Lasix on Saturday.
Attard also entered Bequia. Bequia is coming off a second-place finish in a 1 1/4-mile maiden special on the grass.
Rounding out the field are Tranquil Sky, Youens, Cielo d’Oro, and Pemberley.
