Msbrooklynbrawler romps in Iowa Sorority on a card marked by decisive stakes victories

Byron King|Aug 12, 2017
Msbrooklynbrawler wins the Iowa Sorority PRM 8.12.17
Coady Photography Msbrooklynbrawler dominated the Iowa Sorority Stakes, winning the six-furlong race for statebred juvenile fillies by 12 1/4 lengths on Saturday at Prairie Meadows.

Decisive victories were the theme on Saturday at Prairie Meadows with five of seven stakes contested there for Iowa-breds being won by margins of 2 1/2 lengths or greater.

No horse dominated to the extent that Msbrooklynbrawler ($3.60) did in the $93,159 Iowa Sorority for 2-year-old fillies, winning by 12 1/4 lengths after dueling for the early lead. Ridden by Marlon St. Julien for trainer Kelly Von Hemel, she dispatched of second favorite Clear Credence after a half-mile and pulled away to complete six furlongs on a fast track in 1:10.53.

Scoring by almost as large a margin the $103,500 Iowa Breeders’ Derby was Wonderful Dancer ($16), who rolled by 11 1/2 lengths over favored Han Sense.

Other stakes winners at Prairie Meadows Saturday included Theperfectvow ($4.80) in the Iowa Breeders’ Oaks, Itsallaboutyou ($16.20) in the Dan Johnson Sprint, Tin Badge ($2.80) in the Iowa Cradle, One Fine Dream ($5) in the Governor Terry E. Branstand, and Mywomanfromtokyo ($3) in the Donna Reed.

Jockey Glenn Corbett rode three of the stakes winners to victory, while Ramon Vasquez was aboard a pair.
