The six-time stakes winner Mrs. Astor was recently retired and bred to Upstart, trainer Jonathan Thomas said earlier this month. A 6-year-old mare, Mrs. Astor won 8 of 24 starts and earned $649,472 for owner and breeder George Strawbridge, Jr.’s Augustin Stable. By Lookin at Lucky, Mrs. Astor thrived in distance turf races for fillies and mares in Southern California. Beginning in the fall of 2024, she won six turf stakes in a span of eight starts at Del Mar and Santa Anita, including the Grade 3 Red Carpet Stakes at 1 3/8 miles at Del Mar in 2024 and last November. “She’s been as good as a horse can be for us,” Thomas said. :: Play Santa Anita racing with confidence.
