Mr Percy gets by Cyber Ninja to take Jonathan Kiser Memorial

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. − Mr Percy, a slight favorite over Cyber Ninja, outfinished that rival in the stretch to win Thursday’s $75,000 Jonathan Kiser Memorial Novice Stakes by a half-length at Saratoga. It was 7 1/2 lengths back to Lynches Knock in third.
Mr Percy and Cyber Ninja were among the seven horses who were double-digit lengths behind runaway leader Doctor Love who led over all nine fences and came into the stretch with a clear advantage.
But Mr Percy, under Graham Watters on the outside, and Cyber Ninja, under Jamie Bargary on the inside inhaled Doctor Love and battled through the final furlong with Mr Percy, in receipt of six pounds from Cyber Ninja, getting the victory.
Mr Percy, a 6-year-old Irish-bred gelding by Sir Percy owned by Shannon Hill Farm and trained by Neil Morris, covered the 2 3/8 miles in 4:36.62 and returned $7.18 as the favorite.
