ARCADIA, Calif. – Mr. A. P., second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Del Mar last October at 20-1, has resumed workouts at Santa Anita after an extended rest. Trained by Vladimir Cerin for David and Holly Wilson, Mr. A. P. worked three furlongs 36.80 seconds on Monday. Cerin said he timed Mr. A. P. galloping out a half-mile in 49.80 seconds. “It will be the summer before he runs,” Cerin said on Wednesday. “We’ll take it one step at a time. He’ll work five-eighths once, and maybe we’ll make a plan.” Cerin said Mr. A. P. could return to racing on dirt or turf. Mr. A. P., who is by American Pharoah, has raced only on dirt. In his career debut at Del Mar last July, Mr. A. P. was claimed by the Wilsons for $150,000 after finishing second in a maiden race at 5 1/2 furlongs. The claiming price was a Del Mar record. Mr. A. P. won his third start in a one-mile maiden race at Santa Anita last October. In the BC Juvenile, Mr. A. P. was dismissed at 20-1. He closed from third in a field of six to finish a length behind Ted Noffey, who was later recognized as the champion 2-year-old male of 2025. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
