Mr. A. P., second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Del Mar in October, recently resumed training at Santa Anita for an intended comeback in late spring or summer. Trainer Vladimir Cerin said last weekend that Mr. A. P. is currently jogging. Cerin said the Affirmed Handicap at 1 1/16 miles at Santa Anita on June 11 is a potential goal. Other options are the turf stakes for 3-year-olds at Del Mar during the summer, Cerin said. Owned by David and Holly Wilson, Mr. A. P. was claimed for $150,000 on July 31, a record fee at Del Mar. Mr. A. P. was second in a maiden race at 5 1/2 furlongs that day, his first start. In his third start, Mr. A. P. won a one-mile maiden race at Santa Anita on Oct. 13, finishing a nose in front of Cherokee Nation, a contender for the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby on April 4. In the BC Juvenile, Mr. A. P. was 20-1 in a field of six. He stalked the pace throughout the race at 1 1/16 miles and finished a length behind Ted Noffey, who was later named champion 2-year-old male of 2025. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
