Mr. Nightlinger wires in Shakertown upset

Mr. Nightlinger registered a 21-1 upset Sunday in the Grade 3, $125,000 Shakertown Stakes at Keeneland, leading virtually all the way and turning back favored Smart Enough by 1 3/4 lengths in the 5 1/2-furlong turf race.

With Jamie Theriot riding for trainer Bret Calhoun, Mr. Nightlinger returned $45.80 after finishing in 1:03.84 over a good course. A 4-year-old Indian Charlie colt, Mr. Nightlinger is now a winner in 5 of 14 career starts. He is owned by Martin Racing Stable and Carl R. Moore Management.

Fort Prado finished another 2 1/4 lengths back in third in a field of 11 older horses.

The Shakertown helped the pick six carry over to a track-record level. After being dark Monday and Tuesday, Keeneland will offer a $307,050 pick six carryover on the nine-race Wednesday card.
