Mr Maybe in for a tag in Wednesday turf route

The eighth race at Belmont Park on Wednesday is a second-level optional claimer at 1 1/4 miles over the inner turf. A field of nine seems likely since two of the entrants were entered for the main track only and rain is not forecast until later in the week.
The graded-stakes winner Mr Maybe will be offered for the optional price of $62,500, only the second time he has been up for sale in a race. Mr Maybe, 6, won his maiden in a $50,000 claiming race at Delaware Park in August 2014.
Since being transferred to Chad Brown in the summer of 2015, Mr Maybe has won three of nine starts, including the Grade 3 Red Smith in 2015 and last summer’s restricted John’s Call at Saratoga. He has been flat in some of his recent races, and the drop in class from graded stakes may be just what is needed to wake him up. It will be interesting to see if he is claimed.
Brown has the likely favorites in two first-level allowance races on the card.
In race 3, the lightly raced Lady Alexandra drops out of a third-place finish in the Ginger Brew Stakes at Gulfstream Park while making her first start since January. She was given a short breather after that race but has had a steady work tab since late February.
This six-furlong turf race will be Lady Alexandra’s first start against older rivals. She is coupled in the wagering with the Wesley Ward-trained Glass House since Head of Plains Partners co-owns both horses. Javier Castellano is named aboard Lady Alexandra. John Velazquez is on Glass House.
In race 7, a one-mile allowance for 3-year-old fillies, Eloquent Riddle faces an easier assignment than in her last three races. Since an impressive debut win at Belmont in September, she has raced solely in stakes. Miss Sky Warrior, one of the favorites in Friday’s Kentucky Oaks, won two of those races, and three-time stakes winner Yorkiepoo Princess won the other.
Her principal challengers are Cursor and Overture. Cursor closed well to finish second in the Any Limit Stakes at Gulfstream Park in her seasonal debut for Mark Hennig, while Overture is coming off a four-length Gulfstream maiden win for Bill Mott.
Eleven sign up for Vagrancy
A highly competitive field of 11 has been entered in the Grade 3, $200,000 Vagrancy Handicap at Belmont Park on Friday.
The six-furlong race for fillies and mares includes the Bob Baffert-trained Pretty N Cool, who is the highweight at 120 pounds. She is coming off a victory in the Grade 3 Las Flores at Santa Anita. In her lone start outside California, she won the Grade 2 Matron at Belmont as a 2-year-old in 2015.
By the Moon, who dropped a neck decision after leading for the length of the stretch in the Grade 2 Barbara Fritchie at Laurel Park in February, is the second-highest weight at 119.
The field also includes Kathryn the Wise, who is 2 for 2 and will be thrown into the deep end of the pool here, plus Carrumba, Quezon, and Bar of Gold.
