Mr. Jagermeister dealing with hoof abscess

Minnesota-bred Mr. Jagermeister is one of the top horses in training this summer at Canterbury Park – only he’s not in training right now.
Trainer and part owner Valorie Lund scratched Mr. Jagermeister from the Honor the Hero Stakes on March 18 because of a wet track, and Mr. Jagermeister now is fighting a hoof abscess.
“We’ve been working on it maybe for a week now,” Lund said Monday morning. “We haven’t drawn it out yet. He’s had shoes on again and off again. It’s not a real long-term threatening thing, but abscesses can be very frustrating. We’re packing and soaking it to dry and draw it out.”
Mr. Jagermeister ran below his best form in two Turf Paradise starts to begin his 4-year-old campaign but bounced back and impressively captured an Oaklawn Park allowance race on April 25, equaling his career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 96. Lund hoped to run him at Churchill in the Aristides Stakes last weekend but now has no plans set for Mr. Jagermeister until the abscess pops, the horse gets sound on his foot, and Lund can return him to a training pattern.
