Mr. Hustle will miss the Summer Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Trainer Roger Attfield said the unbeaten 2-year-old Mr. Hustle will miss the Grade 1 Summer here Sept. 15 due a minor setback.
“Mr. Hustle is going to have some time off,” Attfield said. “He’s run three times. He’s a nice horse, and I’ve got to look after him.”
Attfield plans on going to his bench for the one-mile Summer with another promising William Werner-owned gelding, Pleasecallmeback. After beating the highly regarded Tap It to Win in his debut on the grass July 21, Pleasecallmeback rallied for second behind Mr. Hustle in the 6 1/2-furlong Soaring Free Stakes over yielding ground on Aug. 18.
“He ran a creditable race,” said Attfield, regarding the Soaring Free. “I think he’ll be better going further.”
Attfield was thrilled with the way that Tiz a Slam has been training. Victorious in front-running style in each of his last three outings in graded stakes, Tiz a Slam is being pointed to the Grade 1 Northern Dancer Turf here on Sept. 14. He finished a close sixth in last year’s Northern Dancer Turf.
“He’s super, duper,” Attfield said. “He’s on track for that race. He’ll have a [turf] breeze on the weekend.”
A Chiefswood Stable homebred, the towering Tiz a Slam is the leading contender for this year’s Sovereign Award as Canada’s champion older male grass runner.
