Mr Fillip has serious Beyer edge in Golden Boy
?q=100)
Trainer Rick Wise looks to have a protagonist for both $50,000 Assiniboia stakes on Monday when he sends out Mr Fillip in the six-furlong Golden Boy for 3-year-olds and Belle Epoque in the six-furlong Chantilly for 3-year-old fillies.
Mr Fillip earned several gaudy Beyer Speed Figures in his six starts at four different tracks. The son of champion sprinter Mitole got an 85 Beyer when second at second asking Dec. 31 at Oaklawn. Five weeks later, he graduated in front-running style over a sloppy track before ending up fourth when moving out from six furlongs to a mile in the Hot Springs Stakes.
Mr Fillip received an eye-popping 98 Beyer when romping in the May 18 Golden Circle Stakes at Prairie Meadows, but could only manage third most recently as the heavy favorite in the Western Canada Handicap at Century Mile.

Antonio Whitehall will ride Mr Fillip in the colt’s first race for Wise, who recently took over the training duties from Robertino Diodoro.
Magnolia Speed and Canyouhearmerunnin ran first and second in the five-furlong Bobby Q Stakes over five furlongs here June 3.
Magnolia Speed has been campaigned regularly since debuting in October at Delta Downs and has been a model of consistency since Lee Delaronde began training him in March. The Louisiana-bred earned a 64 Beyer when taking the Bobby Q from a stalking position under Sven Balroop, who retains the mount.
Canyouhearmerunnin finished less than a length back in the Bobby Q after leading the way in his season opener. He was unbeaten in four local outings last year, including a victory in the historic Winnipeg Futurity. Shavon Belle was aboard for all of his races and will partner him again.
Completing the Golden Boy field are No Magic, Lucky Appeal, and Thirsty Baby.
Chantilly Stakes
The speedy Belle Epoque is another new runner for Wise, who has won twice with five runners at this meet. She made all five of her starts in Southern California, where she lost her debut against $50,000 maidens by a neck in December at Los Alamitos before graduating two starts later for $40,000 at Santa Anita.
Belle Epoque subsequently doubled up for $32,000 and has been idle since she was a chalky third at the same level in another sprint at Santa Anita. Whitehall rides the daughter of Audible, who is drawn just outside front-runner Yellow Birdie in the outside post 8.
A speed duel could set the table for a stalking Zorina or She’s My Niece, who dead-heated for first in the five-furlong Slinkylady Stakes here June 3.
Zorina has won two under jockey Ronald Ali for trainer Carlos Moreno, who finished either first or second with seven of his eight starters at the meet.
Trained by Jared Brown, She’s My Niece has maintained solid form since graduating in a romp Jan. 1 at Santa Anita. Damario Bynoe retains the mount and can make full use of her tactical speed.
Rounding out the Chantilly lineup are Run for Joy, Midnight Lady, Happy Hour, and Dynamic Strike.
