Coady Photography Quick and Easy, winning off by almost four lengths in the Hoosier Heartland, ran for a $12,500 tag earlier this summer.

Mr Chaos and Quick and Easy notched convincing wins in a pair of Indiana-bred dirt-route stakes races Wednesday at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

Mr Chaos led from start to finish under Orlando Mojica and was home by 2 1/2 lengths in the $100,000 Empire for older horses. Runner-up Mansfield Tiger chased the leader from the far turn to the furlong pole, but Mr Chaos turned him away to win by 2 1/2 lengths. Bluegrass Prayer checked in third as the winner clocked 1:47.07 for 1 1/16 miles on a fast track.

Mr Chaos ($4) is by Turbo Compressor out of Corsica, by Sky Mesa. Rob Dobbs trains the 4-year-old gelding for Ken Sentel and Judy Dorris, and Mr Chaos was bred by Anthony Mathias. His task was made much easier Wednesday by the scratch of morning-line favorite Cash Logistic.

Quick and Easy’s victory in the $100,000 Hoosier Heartland was less expected but more definitive than Mr Chaos’s, as she paid $16.40 beating Diamond Solitaire by 3 3/4 lengths. Fernando de la Cruz, fresh off his weekend win in the $1.7 million Kentucky Turf Cup, made the smart move to turn up the heat on pace-setting odds-on favorite Hungarian Princess midway around the far turn. Hungarian Princess, her ridiculously short odds aside, was unproven over a route of ground, and indeed, she wilted in the stretch run as Quick and Easy drew clear. Compressed Energy got third as Hungarian Princess faded all the way to fourth while the winner timed in a modest 1:47.95 for 1 1/16 miles.

Five-year-old Quick and Easy ran for a $12,500 claiming price earlier this summer and won her first stakes race while making her 26th start. A homebred owned by Don and Pepper White, Quick and Easy is trained by Randy Matthews. The mare is by What Now out of the Street Hero mare, Wife in the Wind, and Wednesday was her day.
