Mpshinning streaking into Dash For Cash Futurity
Mpshinning will be looking for his fifth consecutive win Saturday night when he starts as a strong favorite in the Grade 2, $405,585 Dash For Cash Futurity for Quarter Horses at Lone Star Park.
The race is the richest of three stakes on the card. Lone Star also puts on the Grade 3, $163,400 Dash For Cash Derby and the $46,065 Dash For Cash Juvenile, led by Zoomin Patriot.
Mpshinning won his Dash For Cash Futurity trial by two lengths Sept. 22 at Lone Star. He covered 400 yards on a muddy, sealed track in 19.54 seconds – the fastest time for the finale after 12 trials that featured 114 hopefuls. The second-fastest time was 19.65.
Mpshinning began his win streak in his second career start July 7 at Delta Downs, winning a maiden race. He proceeded to win a trial for the Gillespie County Fair Futurity on Aug. 11 and took the $154,000 finale in Fredericksburg, Texas, on Aug. 26. He then led throughout in his trial for the Dash For Cash.
Adrian Huitron trains Mpshinning for Larry Boudreaux. Luis Vivanco has the mount from the rail. Mpshinning is by Mr Piloto.
Cartel Cupid leads the Dash For Cash Derby. He set the fastest qualifying time for the 440-yard race Sept. 21, when he won his trial on a sloppy, sealed track in 21.32 seconds. The time was the fastest over five trials that drew a total of 50 horses. Earlier this year, Cartel Cupid ran second the Grade 1 Ruidoso Derby at Ruidoso Downs.
Ricky Ramirez has the mount from post 2 for All American Futurity-winning trainer Blane Wood. Cartel Cupid races for his breeders, Randy and Sandy Coleman.
