Mountaineer track report

Joe DeVivo|Sep 22, 2004

Tour the Hive survived a claim of foul to defeat 1-5 favorite Wiggins in Tuesday night's $75,000 Fall Handicap at Mountaineer.

A 7-year-old gelding who rarely races beyond six furlongs, Tour the Hive ($13) raced one-two with Wiggins for the entire 1 1/8 miles of the Fall. Wiggins led for much of the race, but Tour the Hive made his move at the quarter pole and took the lead at the top of the stretch.

Tour the Hive drifted in during the stretch run, pinning Wiggins against the rail for the final furlong, but the stewards disallowed a claim of interference lodged by Wiggins's jockey, Eddie Razo Jr.

Trained by Miguel Feliciano, Tour the Hive was ridden by Ricardo Feliciano and covered 1 1/8 miles over a fast track in 1:52.58.
