Following a head-to-head battle that started just past the quarter pole, Mount Asgard edged Just Jimmy by a neck in the colts and geldings division of the $50,000 CTHS Sales Stakes for 2-year-olds on Monday at Hastings. He paid $4.40 for his game victory in the 6 1/2-furlong sprint.

With Alex Marti riding, Mount Asgard broke from the outside post in the eight-horse field and looked comfortable stalking Just Jimmy and Three Day Bender who dueled through a half-mile in 47.57 seconds. When Three Day Bender backed out of it approaching the quarter pole, Mout Asgard immediately collared Just Jimmy and they raced as a team the rest of the way. Itsmyday came from well back to finish third.

The final time was 1:19.33.

Mount Asgard, a British Columbia-bred son of Sky Mesa, races for Willow Cree Farms and is trained by Steve Henson. He was bred by Black Canyon Thoroughbreds.

U Did It remained undefeated and untested in three starts when she breezed to an easy win over Shamra in the $50,000 fillies division. She paid $2.40 as the overwhelming favorite in the four-horse field.

Ridden by Antonio Reyes, she broke alertly and was well within herself while posting interior fractions of 23.70 and 47.55 in the 6 1/2-furlong dash. She held a 1 1/2-length advantage over Shamra turning for home and was in hand while increasing her margin to 4 3/4 lengths at the wire. Marys Tappin Shoes was in the mix early before finishing a distant third.

The final time was 1:18.77.

U Did It, a daughter of Teide, is trained by Edgar Mendoza and races for John Anderson. She was bred in British Columbia by Christine Ammann, who trains Shamra.
