Mount Asgard outduels Just Jimmy in CTHS Sales Stakes
Following a head-to-head battle that started just past the quarter pole, Mount Asgard edged Just Jimmy by a neck in the colts and geldings division of the $50,000 CTHS Sales Stakes for 2-year-olds on Monday at Hastings. He paid $4.40 for his game victory in the 6 1/2-furlong sprint.
With Alex Marti riding, Mount Asgard broke from the outside post in the eight-horse field and looked comfortable stalking Just Jimmy and Three Day Bender who dueled through a half-mile in 47.57 seconds. When Three Day Bender backed out of it approaching the quarter pole, Mout Asgard immediately collared Just Jimmy and they raced as a team the rest of the way. Itsmyday came from well back to finish third.
