The new Mahoning Valley Race Course showcases 2-year-old Ohio-accredited horses Saturday in the $50,000 Joshua Radosevich Memorial. A field of nine will contest the six-furlong race. Accredited is the more restrictive of the Ohio-bred categories, as both the sire and dam must be located in Ohio. Mound (Last 3 Beyers: 52-61-43) ◗ The inevitable Ohio champion 2-year-old male looks for his fourth consecutive victory for trainer Ivan Vazquez. His last victory in the $150,000 Best of Ohio Juvenile pretty much ensured his Ohio champion status. Prior to that Oct. 11 victory, he won the Loyalty on Sept. 13 and won his maiden Sept. 4. He has won 3 of 5 for rider Megan Fadlovich, who returns for the mount. ◗ He has the field’s highest lifetime Beyer Speed Figure of 61, which he earned in the Loyalty, which he won by 9 3/4 lengths. Dayton Demo (Last 3 Beyers: 41-36-56) ◗ He earned the field’s second-highest lifetime Beyer of 56 when he won his maiden by 13 3/4 lengths, defeating Mound on Aug. 3 at Belterra Park. He has been beaten by a combined 16 1/2 lengths by that one in his last two races. He’s Taken (Beyers: 43-51) ◗ He is one of two horses with a win locally, having taken a statebred maiden race Nov. 26 going the same six-furlong distance. Senorita Dominguez (Last 3 Beyers: 39-36-48) ◗ She has won 3 of her last 4 and is the only filly in the nine-horse field. She won her last start, the Glacial Princess, by 27 1/2 lengths, but that was a match race, as only two Ohio-accredited fillies entered.
