Mot Juste rates edge at Yorkshire

The Yorkshire Oaks, a 1 1/2-mile Group 1 race for fillies and mares at York on Wednesday, is best handicapped by gauging the performances of three fillies who have recently finished close behind Lailani.

Winner of the Irish Oaks and the Nassau Stakes, Lailani is passing this race in favor of the Prix Vermeille at Longchamp on Sept. 16, but her Ed Dunlop-trained stablemate Mot Juste, just a neck behind her in the Irish Oaks, rates a favorite's chance on this perfectly level left-handed course.

She is preferred to both Karsavina, the Aidan O'Brien-trained filly who was a length behind her in the Irish Oaks, and Snowflake, another O'Brien trainee who was 1 1/2 lengths behind Lailani in the 1 1/4-mile Nassau.

The Henry Cecil-trained Sacred Song, winner of two Group 3's at 1 1/2 miles, is a threat but would prefer softer ground.
