Morning Mischief has faced some of the best Louisiana-breds in training in his last five starts. He finally gets some class relief Saturday at Delta Downs in the $65,000 B-Connected, which is for Louisiana-breds who have not won a stakes. Morning Mischief’s last five races have come in stakes for Louisiana-breds at Fair Grounds or Delta. In most of them he did what he does – popped out to the front and ran as fast as he can for as far as he can. Unfortunately for him, Morning Mischief was overwhelmed in the stretch by superior horses in each race, with his best finish a third, beaten three lengths, in the Dixie Poker Ace on the turf at Fair Grounds in March. Morning Mischief’s last two wins came wire to wire against allowance company last winter at Fair Grounds. He has a good chance to do the same in the B-Connected and get his first stakes victory. Perhaps his most dangerous opponent is Lucky Andy, who makes his second start off a five-month layoff. In May, he was beaten a head in the Louisiana Legends Classic at Evangeline, an effort that would make him tough Saturday.
