Morning Line retired, to stand at Lane’s End

Grade 1 winner Morning Line has been retired from racing and will begin his stallion career in 2014 at Lane’s End in Versailles, Ky., for an advertised fee of $10,000 when the foal stands and nurses.

The 6-year-old son of Tiznow finishes his on-track career with five wins in 15 starts for earnings of $1,251,300. Three of his victories came in graded stakes competition, highlighted by the Grade 1 Carter Handicap in 2011. He also won the Grade 2 Mervyn LeRoy Handicap in 2012 and the Pennsylvania Derby in 2010. He also finished a narrow second in the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile to Dakota Phone.

Lane’s End consigned Morning Line as agent during the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale, where he sold for $700,000 to Thoroughbred Legends Racing Stable. William S. Farish of Lanes End and Dixiana Stables later bought into the horse.

“We are extremely impressed with Morning Line’s race record, and given his striking good looks and exceptional pedigree, he has the potential to make an outstanding sire,” Farish said.

Bred in Kentucky by Dell Ridge Farm, Morning Line is out of the unraced A.P. Indy mare Indian Snow, whose three winners from six foals to race include multiple stakes-placed winner Brady Baby.

Morning Line’s second dam is the multiple Grade 1 winner November Snow, and his notable family members also include Group 2 winner Kuroshio and Grade/Group 3 winners Scatmandu, Believe ‘n’ Succeed, and Bounding.
