More Than Tricky has been in tough company

The company More Than Tricky has been keeping points him out as a top contender in a $20,000 optional claiming route that serves as the feature Saturday at Louisiana Downs. The mile and 70-yard race drew a field of eight, including Consult, a winner of his last two starts, and Film Fortune, a half-brother to multiple Grade 2 winner House of Fortune.

More Than Tricky exits a 6 1/2-furlong optional claimer on Aug. 31 in which he finished second to stakes winner Nuttyboom. Before that race, he was a close fourth to stakes winner Erroneous I D in another optional claimer at Louisiana Downs. More Than Tricky's last win came around two turns, and he will be moving back to that trip on Saturday. Trainer Jerry Cart has given the mount to Diego Saenz.

Louisiana Downs's racing calendar will shift starting next week. The track will race Thursday through Saturday through Oct. 13. The meet will then wrap up with a two-day race week, Oct. 19-20.
