More Than Even prevails in RPDC Classic Distaff

More Than Even improved her Will Rogers Downs record to 6 for 8 on Monday, darting to a 1 1/4-length win over Lingering Smoke in the $53,000 RPDC Classic Distaff. It was another 6 1/2 lengths back to Ocean Ahumin in third.
The Classic Distaff, at one mile and 70 yards, was restricted to fillies and mares bred in Oklahoma.
More Than Even ($2.10) set the tempo from the start, taking the field through fractions of 23.74 seconds for the opening quarter, 47.98 for the half-mile, and 1:12.63 for six furlongs. She went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:40.91.
Cliff Berry was aboard the winner for leading trainer Roger Engel.
Doyle Williams bred and owns More Than Even, a daughter of Stephen Got Even who has now won 13 of 29 career starts. Engel said before the Classic Distaff that More Than Even could come under consideration for either the $100,000 Saylorville or the $100,000 Iowa Distaff, both June 26 at Prairie Meadows.
