Coady Photography Moonlit Song rolls to a 2 1/2-length victory as the 1-5 favorite in the Cavada Stakes.

Moonlit Song ran to her 1-5 odds in the $125,000 Cavada Stakes at Charles Town on West Virginia Breeders Classics night, winning by 2 1/2 lengths. The victory was the eighth in her last nine starts.

Moonlit Song, a 3-year-old daughter of Fiber Sonde, defeated older rivals for the second straight time. She is now 9 for 11 in her career.

Moonlit Song was sent right to the lead in the seven-furlong race by jockey Christian Hiraldo and set the pace on a short lead inside Boppin Rocket. She drew clear on the second turn and was not challenged in the stretch.

Moonlit Song paid $2.60 to win in the six-horse field. She returned $2.20 to place with $171,000 of the $193,000 pool wagered on her. There was no show betting on the race.

Moonlit Song was timed in 1:25.83. T Rex Express finished second, 3 1/4 lengths ahead of last year's Cavada winner Candyman's Girl, who was third.

Moonlit Song is trained by Timothy Grams and is owned and was bred by Grams and his wife Judy. Moonlit Song boosted her earnings to $248,890.

Grams said earlier in the week that he intended to give Moonlit Song the winter off on his farm after the Cavada.

Triple Crown Nutrition: Bound to Windsor upsets

Bound to Windsor stayed within hailing distance of 1-9 favorite Noblame early in the 6 1/2-furlong Triple Crown Nutrition and then outfinished her in the stretch to score by 1 1/2 lengths.

Bound to Windsor was one of three 2-year-old fillies in the $75,000 race who were bred, owned, and trained by James W. Casey. She is now 2 for 3 in her career. In her prior start, she finished fifth in the Rachel's Turn, beaten 8 3/4 lengths by Noblame, with whom she dueled for the lead.

Casey is the all-time leading owner and trainer in West Virginia Breeders Classic history. The Triple Crown Nutrition was his 31st victory as a trainer in the series, which began in 1987.

Hiraldo took Bound to Windsor to the rail from post 6 before reaching the first turn. Bound to Windsor advanced along the inside on the backstretch, went outside Noblame for the drive, and pulled away after taking the lead in midstretch.

Bound to Windsor paid $32.20 and was timed in 1:19.85.

Noblame set fractions of 23.50 and 47.58 but could not keep up with the winner in the stretch.

She paid $2.20 to win and place. In the place pool, $90,841 of the $102,114 pool was bet on her. In the show pool, $159,089 of the total $182,962, was riding on her.

Wolfblade finished third, 4 3/4 lengths behind Noblame.

See Ya Manana was bumped at the start and jockey Gerald Almodovar briefly lost his irons.

Corky Punch was unruly at the gate.

Moscarelli: Owen's Mo all the way

Owen's Mo, a West Virginia-bred son of Uncle Mo owned and bred by James Miller, led throughout to win the $75,000 Vincent Moscarelli Memorial, a 6 1/2-furlong race for 2-year-olds.

Based at Laurel Park with trainer Jose Corrales, Owen's Mo came into the Moscarelli as a maiden after four starts. He had been gelded since finishing eighth in the Henry Mercer Memorial on Sept. 23 at Charles Town.

Owen's Mo set the pace under rider Jomar Torres while being tracked by even-money favorite Dionysus' Chalice. He turned back a bid by the favorite nearing the stretch and then drew off to win by 2 1/4 lengths.

Owen's Mo paid $26.20 and was timed in 1:21.08, 1.23 seconds slower than the 2-year-old filly Bound to Windsor went in the prior race.

Binn Goode, who raced forwardly throughout at 10-1, outfinished Dionysus' Chalice for second by three-quarters of a length. It was 1 1/2 lengths farther back to Mr. Jacoby in fourth.

True Heir bolted entering the first turn.

Zep was fanned four wide into the first turn.

The evening started for with an $85 upset by George Town Cat in the 4 1/2-furlong Dash for Cash.

With leading rider Arnaldo Bocachica up, George Town Cat went wire to wire in the $65,000 race, holding off 2-1 second choice Eutaw Street by a half-length. Rip Current finished third. Greenway Court, the 8-5 favorite, was fourth.
