By the Moon targets Vagrancy

Barbara D. Livingston By the Moon runs in the Vagrancy next Friday at Belmont, where she won the Bed o' Roses last year.
ELMONT, N.Y. – Grade 1 winner By the Moon will start in next Friday’s Grade 3, $200,000 Vagrancy Handicap at Belmont Park, trainer Michelle Nevin said Thursday.
By the Moon has not raced since losing by a neck to High Ridge Road when second in the Grade 2 Barbara Fritchie at Laurel Park on Feb. 18.
By the Moon has run some of her best races at Belmont Park, including a victory in the Grade 1 Frizette at 2 and a neck loss at odds of 30-1 in the Grade 1 Acorn at 3. Last June, she won the Grade 3 Bed o’ Roses.
“She’s doing great,” Nevin said. “Really happy and excited to get her back to the races.”
Rajiv Maragh will ride By the Moon in the Vagrancy before flying out to Louisville to ride Irish War Cry in the Kentucky Derby next Saturday.
