Monticello: Svanstedt sweeps New York Sire Stakes races for rookie trotting fillies

Geri Schwarz Seventimesalady won for the third straight time in the New York Sire Stakes

Trainer-driver Ake Svanstedt guided his charges Seventimesalady and Miss Jubilation to victories in the pair of New York Sire Stakes events for 2-year-old filly trotters that took place on Monday afternoon at Monticello Raceway.

Seventimesalady started from post five in the first $51,000 section, and after briefly settling into the pocket on the first turn, Svanstedt sent her up on the outside to get the top spot at the 29 3/5 opening quarter. She would then cruise through middle-half fractions of 59 2/5 and 1:29 2/5, and a 28 4/5 final kicker got her to the wire in 1:58 1/5. Flotus (John Stark Jr.) finished in second and Illdoitmyself (Scott Zeron) was the third-place finisher.

A Chapter Seven half-sister to Lucky Ava, who won the New York Sire Stakes final for 2-year-old filly trotters for Svanstedt and driver Yannick Gingras back in 2017, Seventimesalady has a record of 3-1-1 from five tries, and she has now earned $90,889. She is also co-owned by Svanstedt along with Little E LLC. (also the winning breeder), Knutsson Trotting Inc., and L Berg Inc. and was a $132,000 acquisition at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale. She was the 1-5 favorite and paid $2.50 to win.

The second $52,000 division was pretty much a carbon copy as the other one as Svanstedt and Miss Jubilation swept into the lead at the 29 4/5 first quarter, opened up a gap on the field at the 59 second half and 1:28 4/5 three-quarters and coasted home to prevail in 1:58 4/5. She downed Sorprese (Dan Daley) by three lengths, with Destiny Blue Chip (Charlie Norris), another Svanstedt trainee, back in third.

Svanstedt, Little E LLC., Triple Play Trotters LLC., and Stolz Geiger own Miss Jubliation, a daughter of Chapter Seven-Blue Muscles who was bred by Brittany Farms LLC. and went for $32,000 at the Standardbred Horse Sale. This was Miss Jubilation's second victory from five trips behind the gate, and she has now pocketed $45,610. Racing as part of an entry that was favored at 4-5, she returned $3.60 to win.
