Monticello: Sister Mary Maude cruises to NY Sire Stakes triumph
Sister Mary Maude was sent off at 1-9 in Monday's $111,400 New York Sire Stakes showdown for 3-year-old trotting fillies at Monticello Raceway and did not disappoint, winning in 1:56 3/5.
Driver Joe Bongiorno sent Sister Mary Maude out of the gate but had to work most of a 28 2/5 opening quarter to wrestle the top spot away from fellow leaver Sadbirdstillsing (Jason Bartlett). After she had command, Sister Mary Maude continued to show the way through middle-half panels of 58 4/5 and 1:28 2/5, and a 28 1/5 final kicker sealed the deal on her 2 1/2 length decision over Sadbirdstillsing. Hippie Shake (Tyler Buter) and Seven Year Itch (Jordan Stratton) rounded out the order.
