Monticello: New York Sire Stakes victories for Odds On Enigma, Liberty Style

Odds On Enigma and Liberty Style went home with top honors in the pair of $52,500 New York Sire Stakes divisions for 2-year-old pacing fillies on Monday afternoon at Monticello Raceway.

In the first grouping Odds On Enigma (Matt Kakaley) took the early lead from the pole position but yielded to a two-wide Party Pumps (Braxten Boyd) after the 28 1/5 quarter. Kakaley then re-moved with Odds On Enigma on the second turn and went on to the half in 59 seconds and the three-quarters in 1:28 2/5.

A first-over Ideal Beauty Queen (Jordan Stratton) and a passing lane-attacking Party Pumps both had shots at Odds On Enigma in the lane, but she was able to hold sway by a neck over Ideal Beauty Queen in a 1:56 1/5 mile while Party Pumps checked in third.

Scott Di Domenico trains Odds On Enigma, a daughter of Huntsville bred by Steve Jones with Fair Winds Farm Inc., for owner Odds On Racing. She has a summary of 2-2-0 from six starts, has pocketed $93,120 and paid $5.70 to win as the favorite.

Liberty Style (Jason Bartlett) won the other test by 3 1/2 lengths in 1:56 3/5 after she led the way through fractions of 28, 57 1/5 and 1:26 1/5. Existential (Mark MacDonald) overcame interference by breaking pocket-sitter Odds On Monetary (Kakaley) on the third turn to get second and Brooklyn Bombshell came in third after also getting bothered before three-quarters.

An American Ideal filly bred by Dr. Stephen Dey III, Liberty Style is co-owned by trainer Andrew Stafford with Bonnie Benson. She has four wins from seven appearances, has banked $146,309 and returned $4.50 to win.
