Monticello: My Debt Collector looks to cash in with NYSS win

webmaster|Jul 11, 2025

On Monday July 14, the New York Sire Stakes return to the Mighty M with Three-Year-Old trotting fillies taking the stage. On tap are two divisions of Sire Stakes and two splits of the Excelsiors. The Sire Stakes are worth $56,900 and $58,000 with two $20,000 Excelsior dashes.

The reigning queen of her division is My Debt Collector. She was a winner last year in Sire Stakes competition at Monticello. She is the leading point earner in her class and has drawn post position two with regular pilot Tyler Buter in the bike. In nine starts this year, she has been in the top three every start and has already won four Sire Stakes events with three second-place finishes. The offspring of Chapter Seven – Magic Presto is trained by Nifty Norman and has lifetime earnings of $432,083. Pink Bomb (PP3) will be driven by Jason Bartlett. She scored in a Sire Stake event in Saratoga in June. She is trained by John Butenschoen for owners Crawford Farms and Heather Marshall.

In the second Sire Stakes dash, Royal Mission (Brett Beckwith), a winner of last year’s $225,000 Night of Champions, has drawn post four in the five-horse field in her division. She is trained by Marcus Melander for longtime Standardbred patron Jeff Snyder. She has to her credit one NYSS win this season at Vernon Downs in 1:54, taking a new lifetime mark in the process and has earned $70,794 in her five starts. The ultra-consistent Inn Of The Stars (PP2) has leading Sire Stakes driver Tyler Buter handling the driving assignment. The well-bred Chapter Seven filly scored in a Sire Stake race in 1:58 at Buffalo and finished second in an Excelsior contest last start at Goshen. Chapvious (PP5, Jason Bartlett) earned her lifetime mark of 1:56 3/5 in overnight competition in her last start at Vernon Downs. The Devious Man sophomore is trained by George Ducharme for Purple Haze Stables LLC.

There are two local connections in the second heat of Excelsior Stakes: Sister Lo (K. Dibenedetto – PP1) for Jim Doherty Jr. The Met's hall filly won in this class in her last outing at Buffalo in 1:59 2/5. KJ Title (G. Merton- PP6) is trained by Gary Messenger.

Post Time for the ten-race card on Monday is 12:10 p.m.
