Monticello: My Debt Collecter wires New York Sire Stakes peers
My Debt Collecter was a front-stepping 1:59 4/5 winner in Monday afternoon's single $106,300 New York Sire Stakes event for rookie trotting fillies at Monticello Raceway.
Driver Jim Taggart Jr. had My Debt Collecter on an unopposed lead through opening-half fractions of 29 and 59 2/5 as Morning Angel (Braxten Boyd) sat in the two-hole and 4-5 favorite Beautiful Sight (Tyler Buter) tracked from third. Buter would bring Beautiful Sight off the pylons first-over on the way to three-quarters in 1:29 3/5 and was able to get to within about half a length of My Debt Collecter midway through the final bend.
However, My Debt Collecter still had plenty left and was able to keep Beautiful Sight at bay, then drew off in the stretch to a 2 1/2 length victory. Calculus Risk (Jordan Stratton) worked out a second-over trip, was guided three-wide on the last turn, and got up for second and Beautiful Sight had to settle for the third spot.
