Monticello: Keep Asking had all the answers in Monday's NY Sire Stakes
?q=100)
Keep Asking delivered as the odds-on favorite in Monday afternoon's $104,400 New York Sire Stakes contest for rookie trotting colts and geldings at Monticello Raceway.
Titan Your Grip (Mark MacDonald) blasted to the point from post three and led through opening-half fractions of 28 4/5 and 1:00 2/5, but driver Jordan Stratton wheeled Keep Asking to the outside from the pocket coming off the third turn. Once he had clear sailing, Keep Asking moved up to challenge Titan Your Grip and then cleared him after the 1:29 4/5 three-quarters. It was all Keep Asking after that as he pulled away to prevail by 3 1/4 lengths in 1:59, with Super Duper Cooper (Jason Bartlett) up for second. There was a dead-heat for third between Titan Your Grip and Chaplind (Trond Smedshammer).
Trainer George Ducharme also bred and co-owns Keep Asking, a Chapter Seven colt, with partners W.J. Donovan, Joe Sbrocco and Jim Winske. This was Keep Asking's second win in his sixth try and he has now earned $148,813. He paid $2.80 to win.
Ducharme also took a $20,000 New York Excelsior "A" Series tilt on the program with Woweress (by Crazy Wow and bred by Purple Haze Stables) in 1:58 1/5 with Frank Affrunti in the bike, and Stratton prevailed again in the Excelsior "A" Series with Crazy Brother Jim (by Crazy Wow and bred by Crawford Farms) in 2:00 for owner/trainer Rock Vinci.
