Monticello: Cowgirl Hanover repeats in New York Sire Stakes
Cowgirl Hanover improved to two-for-two in the New York Sire Stakes program and in her career with a 1:56 2/5 triumph in Monday afternoon's single $106,300 New York Sire Stakes test for rookie pacing fillies at Monticello Raceway.
Driven by Scott Zeron, Cowgirl Hanover got away in third from post two and watched as Ray Schnittker stablemates Bronx Mixer (Matt Kakaley) and Send It Down Slim (Mark MacDonald) also fired out, with Send It Down Slim taking charge passing the 28 second opening quarter. MacDonald would get Send It Down Slim to the half in 58 2/5, and then Zeron sent Cowgirl Hanover out first-over on the third turn.

Send It Down Slim was game and kept Cowgirl Hanover at bay to the 1:28 1/5 three-quarters, around the last turn, and into the lane, but Cowgirl Hanover kept coming on the outside, went past about halfway through the stretch and then pulled clear to tally by a length and a half. Bronx Mixer got up for second, Send It Down Slim was third and favored All Hail The Queen (Jason Bartlett) wound up fourth after she was unable to keep up to the winner's cover.
A daughter of Huntsville bred by Hanover Shoe Farms Inc., Cowgirl Hanover is trained by Jared Bako for owner Ny Seb Inc. An $85,000 buy at last year's Standardbred Horse Sale and a half-sister to the likes of Crunch Hanover (1:50 3/5, $290,131), Cowgirl Hanover has earned $78,900 to go with her pair victories and paid $6.90 to win as the 2-1 second choice.
