Monticello: Bongiorno's belles best in New York Sire Stakes contests

Trainer Jenn Bongiorno won both $56,500 New York Sire Stakes divisions for 3-year-old pacing fillies that were raced on Monday afternoon at Monticello Raceway.
Meghan Lynn (Joe Bongiorno) won the first grouping from first-over in 1:54 3/5. She settled into fourth going to the 27 1/5 opening quarter while DD Delicious (Matt Kakaley) blasted to the lead and forced 1-5 favorite Chase You (Scott Zeron) to relent and drop into the pocket. DD Delicious would go on to reach the half in 57 and the three-quarters in 1:26, but Meghan Lynn, who had pulled to the outside on the way to that latter station, hustled up quickly, confronted the pace-setter on the final bend, and put her away in the lane, pacing on to the win by a length and a quarter. DD Delicious wound up second, with Chase You third.
A daughter of American Ideal, Chase You is owned by Crawford Farms Racing. This was Meghan Lynn's fourth career win, and she has now earned $118,580. A 9-2 offering, she paid $11.00 to win.
Bongiorno's other victorious filly was Sulky Queen (Kakaley), who won her fourth straight race. So Awesome (Tyler Buter) led the way early, but Brooklyn Lilacs (Joe Bongiorno) came with a big rush and cleared to the top past the 27 4/5 opening quarter. Brooklyn Lilacs then went a big second quarter, putting a half on the board in a demanding 55 seconds flat.
JK American Beauty (Jordan Stratton) wheeled first-up from third past the half, giving cover to Sulky Queen and Kakaley from last. The cover flow made a dent in Brooklyn Lilacs's lead at the 1:24 3/5 three-quarters, but Sulky Queen had the best kick in the last quarter, using a three-wide brush and 30 second final stanza on her way to a 4 1/2 length victory in 1:55. JK American Beauty was the second-place finisher, with So Awesome third.
Sulky Queen is a Rock N Roll Heaven filly owned and bred by Jay Sears and Sundance Stable LLC. She is now a six-time winner in her life, and she boosted her bankroll to $52,812. Dispatched as the second-longest shot on the board at odds of 7-1, Sulky Queen returned $16.60 to win.
