Monmouth stakes schedule to be worth $7.7 million

Monmouth Park in Oceanport, N.J., will offer $7.7 million in stakes purses during its 2023 meet, including $2.9 million on a single day, July 22, when the $1 million Haskell Invitational will anchor a stakes-rich card.
The Grade 1 Haskell, for 3-year-olds, will be one of five graded stakes on the July 22 card, joining the Grade 1, $600,000 United Nations, the Grade 3 Molly Pitcher, the Grade 3 Monmouth Cup, and the Grade 3 Matchmaker Stakes. This year, the purses for the Molly Pitcher and the Matchmaker have both been bumped up $100,000, and the Molly Pitcher will be worth $500,000 and the Matchmaker $300,000.
Monmouth has scheduled four stakes races that could serve as preps to the Haskell Day races on June 17, five weeks before the Haskell card. Those races include three Grade 3 stakes - the Monmouth, the Salvator Mile, and the Eatontown Stakes - along with the listed Pegasus Stakes. All four stakes have purses of $150,000.

Monmouth’s live race meet this year is scheduled to run from May 13 to Sept. 10.
