Monmouth: Smart N Classy catches Lentil

Smart N Classy, the lone New Jersey-bred in the field, got past Lentil in the final jumps to win the Grade 3, $150,000 by a nose Sunday at Monmouth Park.
Smart N Classy ($15.40) ran the 1 1/16 miles over a soft turf course in 1:46.22 before a crowd of 13,825. Spotlight was third, a neck behind Lentil.
Smart N Classy, ridden by Jose Velez Jr. for trainer John Tammaro III, earned her sixth win in 24 career starts.
