Monmouth: Rice runners go one-two

DRF Staff|Sep 15, 2003

Trainer Linda Rice swept the top two spots in the $50,000 Joseph Buckelew Stakes, winning the five-furlong turf race for 3-year-old fillies with Impolite and taking second with Six Pack Sally. Coupled in the wagering, they paid $4.40 to win.

Jose Ferrer rode Impolite to a 1 3/4-length score over her stablemate, with Glowing Breeze rallying for third, a nose back of Six Pack Sally.

* Earlier on the card, Jersey Giant ($3.80) and jockey Julian Pimentel ran down Abreeze in the final strides to win the $57,500 Skip Trial Stakes by a neck. Abreeze finished 10 1/2 lengths in front of Seattle Glory, with Roger E 15 lengths farther back in the field of four 3-year-olds and up going 1 1/16 miles.
