OCEANPORT, N.J. - She Digs Me, the "other" Steve Asmussen trainee in the Grade 3, $106,500 Sapling, romped to a 6 1/4 length victory in the Monmouth Park meet's top event for 2-year-olds. Asmussen's Voodoo Daddy took most of the betting action as the even-money favorite following an impressive debut win at Saratoga. She Digs Me settled at 4-1, even though he was on a two-race winning streak that included the Tyro Stakes, the Sapling prep. Voodoo Daddy, breaking from the rail, stumbled briefly at the start. After that early miscue, jockey Leparoux sent Voodoo Daddy after the lead and was immediately challenged by Deliburnsky through fractions of 22.10 and 45.05. It all took a toll in the lane as Voodoo Daddy faded while She Digs Me powered by on a four-wide sweep in the lane. Elvis Trujillo was aboard as Asmussen picked up a fourth Sapling victory. She Digs Me paid $10.60. Jagati and Black Rhino dead-heated for second money. The time was 1:10.34 for the six furlongs on the fast track. Your browser does not support iframes
