Monmouth Park: Grand Prayer scores

Grand Prayer ran down the front-running Emerald Earrings in the stretch and drew off to win the $60,000 Without Feathers Stakes by 2 1/2 lengths.

Stretching out to a mile and 70 yards after three consecutive sprints, Grand Prayer, ridden by Eibar Coa for trainer Mark Hennig, sat off the pace set by an unhurried Emerald Earrings. Emerald Earrings had a four-length lead at the top of the stretch, but then Grand Prayer started rolling. She passed Emerald Earrings in midstretch, and the result was not in doubt after that. Emerald Earrings held second over the late-rallying From Away. A Luluof a Menifee, the 8-5 favorite, was never a serious factor and finished fourth in the field of six 3-year-old fillies.

Grand Prayer ($7) was timed in 1:42.77.
