Gilded Gold surged in deep stretch to win the $55,000 Incredible Revenge Stakes at Monmouth Park.

The Incredible Revenge for fillies and mares at five furlongs was originally slated for the turf, but was shifted to the main track prior to entries being taken in an effort to preserve the course until its scheduled closing after Labor Day.

The surface shift was a welcome development for Gilded Gold ($6.60). She has won two of her last three races, with both victories coming on the main track.

The race unfolded as expected, with Clay's Rocket and Pretty Imposing dueling for the lead and Gilded Gold sitting in a stalking position.

Jose Velez Jr. angled Gilded Gold to the outside on the turn, and she dug in during the final furlong to wear down Clay's Rocket by one length. Pretty Imposing was third.

"We were a little further back than I wanted," Velez said. "In the stretch, I knew I had the gray horse [Pretty Imposing] for sure, but the other horse was still rolling. My horse kicked in late and ran them both down."

Gilded Time was timed in 57.82 seconds on the fast track.

* Trueamericanspirit stormed to a four-length victory in the $60,000 Bill Wheeler Handicap for New Jersey-breds.

Jay's Wish, War's Prospect, and Who's the Cowboy battled three abreast in deep stretch, and it looked like the winner would emerge from that trio until Trueamericanspirit rocketed past for his second straight statebred stakes victory.

Rajiv Maragh rode for trainer Tim Hills. Trueamericanspirit ($13.80) ran the six furlongs in 1:10.45.

Jay's Wish was second, and War's Prospect was moved up from fourth to third when Who's the Cowboy was disqualified for stretch interference.

* Krasnaya ($8.80), ridden by Chris DeCarlo for trainer Todd Pletcher, held off Smart N Classy to win the $60,000 Omnibus Stakes for fillies and mares on the turf.

* The Monmouth racing office has added a stakes race for Sept. 3: the $50,000 Goldfinch for fillies and mares at 1 1/8 miles on the turf. Nominations close Wednesday; entries will be drawn Thursday.
