With Money Moves out of the race, Discovery will have field of five

Barbara D. Livingston Money Moves comes into Friday's allowance at Belmont off a 13th-place finish in the Kentucky Derby.

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Money Moves, who likely would have vied for favoritism, will miss Saturday’s Grade 3, $100,000 Discovery Stakes due to an unspecified problem, trainer Todd Pletcher said Wednesday.

Pletcher said he has sent X-rays to Dr. Larry Bramlage to decipher the issue.

With Money Moves out, there were only five 3-year-olds entered in the Discovery, among the last route stakes restricted to 3-year-olds in 2020.

Shared Sense, winner of the Indiana Derby and Oklahoma Derby – both Grade 3’s at 1 1/8 miles – will likely go favored for trainer Brad Cox and Godolphin Racing. He will break from the rail under Jose Lezcano.

Outside of him, in post order, are Monday Morning Qb, Forza di Oro, Ralston, and Attachment Rate.

In other stakes on Saturday’s card:

◗ Archidust was third as the favorite in the Grade 3 Belmont Turf Sprint Invitational and will look to make amends against a full field of 10 in the $100,000 Aqueduct Turf Sprint Championship at six furlongs.

Archidust, trained by Steve Asmussen, won the Wolf Hill and Get Serious stakes at Monmouth before getting beat 3 1/4 lengths by Wet Your Whistle in the Belmont Turf Sprint. Wet Your Whistle came back to run second in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Keeneland earlier this month.

The Aqueduct Turf Sprint field includes Lonhtwist, Battle Station, Sayyaaf, True Valour, Hollywood Talent, Turned Aside, El Tormenta, Maxwell Esquire, and Therapist.

◗ Impressive debut winners Hard Love and Not Surprising head a field of 10 2-year-olds entered in the $100,000 Central Park Stakes going a mile on turf.
