Monday services for Jeannie Pope
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLEJean “Jeannie” Pope, wife of Oaklawn racing secretary Pat Pope, died Tuesday at a Shreveport, La., hospital after a long illness. She was 61.
Jean Pope spent time working in racing, among her positions was horsemen’s bookkeeper at Louisiana Downs.
“She worked on the racetrack until starting a family,” Pat Pope said.
The couple has three children, Michael, Jennifer, and John.
Pat Pope said a funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Benton, La. A visitation will be held Sunday at the church.
