Molly Morgan retired

Molly Morgan was what trainer Dale Romans called “a big-day performer.” The 6-year-old Molly Morgan was retired this week due to injury, with her final record standing at eight wins in 29 starts and $882,159 in earnings.
“Her last race was a win on Oaks Day,” said Romans, referring to the Grade 1 La Troienne here May 1. “She also won Foster Night [2014 Fleur de Lis], Clark Day [a 2012 allowance], and Ellis Park’s biggest day [the 2014 Gardenia]. She even won on a Breeders’ Cup day” when taking the Chilukki here last fall on the same day the Breeders’ Cup was being held at Santa Anita.
Molly Morgan was being pointed to the Fleur de Lis and the July 18 Delaware Handicap when she exited a May 16 breeze with a fractured sesamoid in her left front ankle.
Plans for Judy the Beauty
Owner and trainer Wesley Ward said Judy the Beauty is doing well in her training at Keeneland since the 2014 female sprint champion returned there following a narrow defeat in the Grade 1 Humana Distaff in her 6-year-old debut here May 2.
Ward said he tentatively intends to run Judy the Beauty in the July 5 Princess Rooney at Gulfstream, with two Saratoga races – the July 29 Honorable Miss and Aug. 29 Ballerina – “definitely on her itinerary” as preps toward a title defense in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint at Keeneland in late October.
